If men can take a feminine role…

Fr. Thomas J. Loya answered an e-mail of mine on the October 1, 2009 broadcast of A Body of Truth. This is what I asked him:

The argument:
The priest at Mass or Divine Liturgy is a male role because he initiates and gives (I’m skipping all the background to this). Thus a woman cannot be a priest because she cannot fulfil the role of a male. Sexually, she cannot initiate and give.

The counter-argument:
The congregation at Mass or Divine Liturgy is a female role because she receives and responds. However, in the congregation is both men and women. If the above argument is true, a man cannot belong to the congregation because he cannot fulfil the role of a female. If a man can fulfil the female role of the congregation, couldn’t it be possible for a woman to fulfil the masculine role of a priest?

What would your rebuttal be?
